Alyson Bryant is the UKAS Healthcare Accreditation Specialist, leading on technical competence and stakeholder engagement across the Healthcare portfolio, including physiological science services, imaging services and medical laboratory services.
Al has worked at UKAS for nearly 10 years, starting as an assessment manager during the CPA-ISO 15189 transition project. Prior to UKAS, Al worked as a Biomedical Scientist in NHS Cellular Pathology departments for 15 years.
Al works with Healthcare stakeholders UK-wide, including the IBMS, the RCPath, BIVDA and NHS representatives from all four UK nations, as well as representing UKAS and the UK on national and international Accreditation and Standardization committees.
Debra Padgett is a Clinical Pathology Service Manager at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Past President of the Institute of Biomedical Science. With over 22 years experience in NHS labs, her expertise spans Pathology Management, Infection Sciences, and Healthcare Science Education. She champions professional development and quality improvement.
Formerly Pathology Quality Manager during ISO 15189 transition, she initiated Quality symposia at IBMS Congress and nationwide conferences. Debra shapes quality initiatives at the Institute and tutors on Ulster University's Expert Practice in Quality Management.
As Lead Healthcare Scientist for NHCT, Pathology Operational Lead, and BSI ISO 15189 committee member, she influences healthcare. Debra also serves on Ideagen Customer Council and fosters STEM engagement as an ambassador.
Chairing the UK mirror committee to ISO/TC 212 and as the head of delegation for the UK on the international ISO/TC 212 committee, David has experience in writing standards and was the project lead on ISO 22870, on the drafting team of the new ISO 15189, as well as being involved in many other standards including ISO 22367. The commentaries are designed to explain the changes in the latest version of ISO standards and explain how to use them in a laboratory setting. David Ricketts manages his own consultancy firm, in which capacity he is speaking today.
