Sarah is currently the Head of Medical Writing at Alkermes, a mid-sized neuroscience pharmaceutical company. Her team is responsible for writing protocols, Investigator Brochures, and clinical study reports to support clinical trials. She has been a big proponent of efficiency and quality for medical writing, and successfully implemented a lean writing program at Alkermes. She has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for almost 20 years, starting in nonclinical drug safety testing, moving to a clinical scientist role, and then transitioning into medical writing full time. She has worked at various companies including GOJO (maker of PURELL), Allergan (maker of BOTOX), and AbbVie. She holds a Masters degree in biology from the University of Akron.
Sarah resides in the Raleigh, NC area with her family which includes her 2 sons, ages 4 and 10. Outside of work she owns and manages a short-term rental in North Myrtle Beach, SC and acts as a medical writing advisor for Peer AI. In her free time Sarah enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, time at the beach, and watching her sons play sports.
