An interview with a proposal consultant

LSH is one of the UK and Ireland’s leading, and most progressive, property consultancies with 32 offices and over 1,000 staff.
We spoke to Kate Babbage, BID Executive at Lambert Smith Hampton.
Kate has worked at LSH for more than seven years and has been focusing on bids for one year.
How many bids do you work on at any one time?
Personally, I tend to work on three bids a week on average, because at LSH we believe this is the maximum a person can work on without compromising the quality of their work.
As a business, we work on up to 11 bids every week – in 2021 we submitted over 200 bids in total.

Prior to using Ideagen Huddle, what issues did you face in your processes?
There were several challenges we faced when working on a bid, for example trying to email large files, people working on the wrong version of a document and collating all the changes into a final version.
In addition to the challenges of editing documents, our previous method meant it was difficult to add in new people once the bid process had already started, and we had to spend a lot of time chasing people up to complete their tasks.

How did you find out about Ideagen Huddle? And how has your process changed since you started using it?
As a business, we’re always looking for innovative ideas. Our in-house apps team discovered Ideagen Huddle through market research so we decided to try it.
Using Ideagen Huddle has improved our processes tremendously – it feels painless now and it’s an absolute game-changer for document management and version control.
The comment section is really useful for working as a team interactively and the automatic emails for comments and tasks are particularly helpful, too.
When we’re working with a client or any sub-contractor who isn’t part of LSH, we’re able to give them access a workspace with the relevant data for that project and we have no security issues doing this as long as all parties agree.

Has Ideagen Huddle been useful in any other parts of LSH since you started using it?
Yes, our agency and marketing teams now use Ideagen Huddle too, they find it really useful for marketing collateral and case studies
Would you recommend Ideagen Huddle to other bid teams?
Yes, definitely. Ideagen Huddle has saved us lots of time and effort and really transformed the way we work for the better.
It’s really easy to use and a new workspace or user can be added in seconds without having to go through a long and complicated set up process.
It makes a huge difference and I would really recommend it.
