Dubai Natural Gas Company Ltd introduce streamlined and centralized document control
The Dubai Natural Gas Company Ltd (Dugas) has played an integral role in the development of Dubai and has a 30 year history which reflects a resourceful commitment to its people and its future.
The Dubai Natural Gas Company Ltd (Dugas) based just outside the Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Natural Gas Company Ltd’s strength is demonstrated in its planning, engineering, construction, operations, maintenance and management of complex infrastructure and industrial facilities.

In order to improve quality throughout the business, and in particular the management of their documentation, Dugas required a quality management solution (QMS) which would improve document control and ensure limited use of hard copies.

Dugas’ ISO co-ordinator said: “As an organisation of this size and stature, we had a lot of documentation which was required to be managed and this was done manually. However, the issues we were facing were that hard and soft copies of documentation were being created, reviewed and then distributed with limited or no control.
We had to centralise the management of our documentation to ensure that we were in total of control of reviews and versions of documents that were important to the business – that way we could ensure that all staff were working from the correct revision of a particular document.
“Helping us introduce managed and controlled processes around our documentation was the most important requirement.
As well as this, the company were introducing internal audits, therefore, the new system had to help us plan, schedule and manage audits, calibrate our assets and improve overall asset management. It also had to help us record and keep on top of customer complaints.”

We can schedule and plan audits, follow up on any corrective actions highlighted through the CA/PA module – including customer feedback – which has then in turn improved our overall reporting and analysis capability across the company.
We also successfully manage the processes around our ISO 9001:2008 certification completely through Quality Management, which has led to our QMS becoming 90 per cent paperless.

The approval process and email reminder capability built into the system has helped us introduce an easy but effective document control process throughout the company. “We implemented the product in 2000 and have now been a customer for 21 years.
It has helped introduce better internal communication, streamlined our document control processes and improved our overall reporting and analysis of the business.
