Ideagen to offer HIPAA-compliant cloud hosted audit automation solution

Ideagen, a global leader in providing regulatory and compliance management software solutions, has announced that it will meet the needs of its HIPAA regulated customers with the latest Pentana Audit hosted offering.
HIPAA – the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act – sets the standard for protecting sensitive patient health data in the United States.
Companies that deal with protected health information (PHI) must ensure that all the required physical, network and process security measures are in place and followed.
Jack Leech, Ideagen’s Product Ambassador for Pentana, said: “Where US-based customers are in the healthcare industry, they will need assurance that Pentana is HIPAA compliant in relation to any electronic protected health information (ePHI).
“We are delighted to confirm that from today, Ideagen Pentana can now be supplied as a HIPAA-compliant offering, helping organisations achieve and maintain compliance with requirements in relation to ePHI data.”
Jack added: “While primary responsibility for HIPAA compliance rests with the client as the data controller, Ideagen – as data processor – will sign a Business Associate Addendum (BAA) to confirm that data is processed and stored in accordance with HIPAA requirements.”
Ideagen has selected AWS to provide the core infrastructure services of the cloud offering with due diligence taken to ensure AWS meets several critical business requirements including financial stability, experience, regulation, reputation, ISO certification and legislation compliance.
AWS has also signed a BAA with Ideagen to confirm they comply with HIPAA requirements.

Ideagen has built on this strong foundation to ensure the Pentana Hosted service meets the needs of HIPAA regulated customers.
“As a further control, the interfaces with AWS are completely separated from our network, thus ensuring that the confidentiality and integrity of customer data is maintained at all times.”
Pentana is Ideagen’s flagship audit management software solution. The software is trusted and used by over 450 clients worldwide including Heineken, BBVA, BDO, Standard Life and the European Central Bank.
