Ideagen and Lion Air Group host joint safety culture workshop
The 90-minute event took place at the Cabin Operations Safety Conference in Thailand
Lion Air Group, the largest private airline carrier in Indonesia, teamed up with aviation safety management software firm, Ideagen, recently to host a safety culture workshop.
The session focussed on how Lion Air implemented a consistent safety management system across its companies to ensure a positive safety culture was developed and maintained.
The Group implemented Ideagen’s Coruson software to support its initiative, helping to strengthen the airline’s safety operations through functionality such as smart forms, GEO tagging and a mobile app for detailed reporting.
Both organisations presented an in-depth presentation on the project to delegates at IATA’s Cabin Operations Safety Conference in Bangkok, Thailand.
Jose Fernandez, Group Safety & Quality Director at Lion Air, said: “Introducing and nurturing a safety culture is a crucial part of any aviation organisation’s safety management system, and as the leading private airline carrier in Indonesia we are committed to operating to the highest safety, security and quality standards.
“This workshop with Ideagen was an important one as it allowed us to demonstrate our safety culture journey – from why we required an SMS initially, the problems we were facing to the benefits we have experienced since implementing Coruson.
“We found this workshop extremely beneficial and it provided us with a platform to promote the importance of safety initiatives in aviation to achieve international recognition and standards.”
The Lion Air Group flies to more than 183 routes across all corners of Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke as well as through several international countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, India, China and Saudi Arabia.
It implemented Ideagen’s Coruson software in September 2017, and Coruson has since provided them with safety performance oversight across its six affiliated AOCs, delivering detailed performance data to quickly highlight potential safety weaknesses and risks, such as those linked to pilot fatigue or aircraft incidents.
Steven Cespedes, Ideagen’s Head of Aviation, said: “We have been working closely with the team at Lion Air Group for several months and were delighted to have been asked to take part in this crucial aviation safety event.
“Using our software, Lion Air Group have revolutionised safety management across their operations – nurturing its internal safety culture to the strongest it has ever been.
“We are delighted to be working alongside them on their safety journey, and we are looking forward to achieving many milestones together in the months ahead.”
