Ideagen celebrates young gamechangers at community awards
Young people’s remarkable contributions to the community around Ideagen’s headquarters have been celebrated at a local awards ceremony, sponsored by the software company.
Keyworth U11s Girls Lightning were named "Young Person or Group of the Year" at the 2024 Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards for their inspirational achievements, commitment and exceptional teamwork.
The local football team made history by becoming the first girls’ team to win a boys’ Young Elizabethan League title, breaking barriers and becoming fantastic role models for girls in sport.
Ideagen CEO Ben Dorks presented the team with their trophy at a special awards ceremony. “Each year, I’m inspired by the hard work and positive impact these young talents bring to our community,” said Ben.
"Keyworth U11s Girls Lightning’s win is not just a testament to their dedication and resilience but also a shining example for other young athletes, especially girls in sports. They’ve shown what can be achieved through the power of teamwork and determination.
"We were delighted to sponsor this award, putting our ‘Community’ value into action to celebrate the achievements of young people living close to our UK headquarters. It's an honor to recognize these well-deserved successes that inspire so many across the city and beyond."
Organized by Rushcliffe Borough Council, this year’s ceremony featured 11 categories supported by local businesses, with Ideagen once again sponsoring the "Young Person or Group of the Year" award.
The category celebrates those who have shown outstanding achievements, acted as excellent role models for their peers and demonstrated great promise for the future. Alongside Keyworth U11s Girls Lightning, nominees included Charlie Brown from West Bridgford and Binuthi Gunasekara from Lady Bay.
Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council, Cllr Neil Clarke, added: "Many congratulations to our winners and to all those who were shortlisted and nominated.
"The event highlighted so many who give so much to their community, group or organisation. Whether volunteer, business owner or community hero, they are all making a difference to people’s lives here in the Borough and are hugely deserving of this recognition.
"Thank you to everyone who nominated a group or individual, it was wonderful to celebrate their achievements and to all the sponsors many of whom also help make the Borough what it is creating employment for local people."
