Blackpool Teaching Hospitals’ Pharmacy Aseptic Unit achieve complete Document Control with Q-Pulse
With several paper-based systems in operation, the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit located within the main Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, were finding it increasingly difficult to stay on top of their document management, including standard operating procedures.
The department is responsible for the preparation of a range of medicines which are not commercially available. Most of the Unit’s work is Cancer Chemotherapy for Oncology and Haematology patients and as the hospital is the tertiary Haematology Centre for the region, it means they treat any patient with acute Leukaemia or Lymphoma from across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Q-Pulse, developed by Ideagen, was brought in to help streamline their processes, providing them with a centralised document management system as part of an electronic quality management system (QMS).
Benefits
- Q-Pulse enables staff to deal with “massive” amounts of paperwork electronically - particularly creation, revision and archiving of all documentation including SOPs, worksheets, labels, forms and training manuals
- Document review times have been dramatically cut as documents and critical procedures are passed around relevant reviewers electronically
Q-Pulse has streamlined our document management and improved the way in which we manage change control.
